Of course, as far as goal-setting is concerned, it goes without saying that
YOU have to put in the
commitment and effort to make it work for you.
The same logic applies to anything that is truly worth having in
our lives. However, like the rest of us, there maybe times when you just don’t
have the inner drive or resources to keep heading down the path
towards your chosen goal. When you are trying to get to grips
with a difficult task, do you often wish there was someone who
would willingly
‘kick-start’ your motivation and keep you focused on the road
ahead?
This is where personal coaching is so effective,
because you then have a qualified coach on hand to do all that for you.
Even so, I can readily appreciate that you may not be able to afford full coaching sessions at
this time. Fair enough. But what about investing say
£6 per week for me to phone
you on an appointed day and time each week to keep you on-track in working
towards your goal?
If you take the weight loss example I referred to
in my goal-setting lesson, many people will actually pay around £5 a week to show up at
various weight-watching clubs just to be weighed in a group setting – nothing
more! I can’t believe they pay a fiver a week to be publicly
held to account - but receive no additional support. How
strange.
In direct contrast to the above method, my 'micro-coaching' sessions will
provide you with an
appropriate level of support, together with practical advice
specifically tailored to meet your particular requirements. No
two people are alike. We all have different needs, expectations,
learning styles, and belief systems. It's my job to find out
what presses your buttons, keeps you motivated and 'on track' to achieve what you
want out of life!
Tell me this, if you knew I was going to ring you at a
pre-arranged time every week to ask you how you are getting on and offer
some relevant words of encouragement, would that motivate you to
keep going, or to do better? Would it give you the impetus to
concentrate on the action steps you need to take? Would it be a
welcome bonus to have someone rooting for YOU at regular
intervals and willing you to succeed?
The answer to all of the above is: “You bet it
would!” You see, I don’t believe in people being herded
together to be publicly humiliated. That’s not the answer to
keeping motivated. The truth is, all of us do much better
when we have some qualified one-to-one support.

Incidentally, your Goal doesn't necessarily have to be
connected to your career path. It can relate to general 'life'
issues, your home environment, relationships, or your workplace. Quite often,
clients will work on a series of goals to improve their
self-esteem and confidence levels. You are in the driving seat, so
you get get to choose the goals that are most important to you
at this time in your life.
Each micro-coaching call will last for around 10-12
minutes and everything discussed will be treated in the
strictest confidence. I reckon that knowing you are going to be held
to account through my scheduled phone sessions will provide all
the motivation you’ll need to work on your goal between calls.
